On Friday, December 6, 2019, CWSE-ON joins Canadians to mark 30 years since the Montreal’s École Polytechnique massacre where 14 young women were slain.
In support, 14+ universities across Canada will hold vigils and light a beam next to their engineering schools to remember the victims.
Engineering Deans of Canada put forth an inspiring initiative “Moving forward, building strength, inspiring change” by profiling 30 female engineers and their outstanding work and who graduated around the time of the massacre. Here are their stories www.30yearslater.ca.
Also, Status of Women Canada (Government of Canada) recognized December 6th as the “National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women” also known as White Ribbon Day. This year’s campaign against gender-based violence #OurActionsMatter pledging us “to share concrete actions taken in our own communities and in our own lives to question, call out, and speak up against acts of gender-based violence.
