As part of its mandate to help young women and girls develop an interest in STEM fields, the Chair for Women in Science and Engineering for Ontario (CWSE-ON) seeks partnerships with initiatives working in Ontario to promote science and engineering through outreach or professional development activities.
More specifically, the goal of this funding is to help the launching or development of programs promoting STEM fields through initiatives intended for Indigenous peoples across Ontario, youth and professionals of the Northern Ontario region, as well as other groups that could benefit from such programs. We are also seeking to support bilingual or French-language or First-Nations-language initiatives.
Overall, three awards of up to $5,000 will be granted over three intake periods per year (one per period for a total of three per year), starting March 15, 2019. The three periods of submission will be from March to May, June to August, and October to December. Please see below for more details on the timeline for the submission periods as well as the required application forms.
To be considered for this funding, proposed project should:
- Have incoming resources providing similar or matching funds, as well as a plan for continuation once the CWSE-ON Partners Program funding ends. (We can help you develop this part in Step 1.)
- Be registered as a not-for-profit association in Ontario, or be an educational institution.
Your application will be evaluated in accordance to the following criteria:
- The motivation, need and justification for your project, including geographical or community factors.
- The potential impact of your project and the number of people who will benefit from it.
- The long-term sustainability of your project once the funding ends.
- The readiness of your organization to receive and use the funds.
- Plans on how your project’s impact(s) will be measured as well as how you will share those results.
- Other aspects may be taken into consideration to guarantee a diversity within applications.
- Please note that the CWSE-ON Partners Program mostly supports programs with a far-reaching impact. Funding for individuals for activities such as participation in conferences or seminars, or any other individual project is not offered by the program.
Decision on project funding will be based on the Chair's review committee’s recommendations.
