Position: Website Developer—Summer Student (Updated)

Women in Communications and Technology is a national grassroots organization that creates and delivers programs through a community network to help women advance in the communications, media and technology sectors. This individual will be responsible for developing and refining WCT’s online networking platform WCTConnect (https://connect.wct-fct.com/) in an effort to foster greater user engagement and incentivization.
Nature & Scope:
https://connect.wct-fct.com/">WCTConnect is an online networking platform that aims to assist young women in accessing the appropriate resources and support necessary to enable women’s participation in the communications and technology sectors. WCTConnect allows women at all career stages an opportunity to showcase their skill sets, seek new opportunities and connect with other women and allies.
Key Responsibilities:
The website developer will report to the Chief Executive Director and coordinate with our Member Service Coordinator and Communications and Marketing Manager to redesign WCTConnect’s content management capacity to facilitate stronger user engagement. This position will involve developing necessary interactive elements of WCTConnect, primarily instant messaging, article-sharing, and video posting components. The website developer will provide expertise on WCTConnect’s ease-of-use, functionality and accessibility.

This position will give the successful applicant the opportunity to work for a national organization committed to enhancing and expanding career opportunities for Canadian women in comm-tech sectors across the country. During the course of your placement, you will develop solid code-writing skills, collaboration experience, as well as the opportunity to educate employees in computer literacy. Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of PHP
- Experience creating an interactive website/application
- Self-starter with strong organization and time-management skills
- 3+ years’ experience in website development (this can consist of a combination of in-course work, co-op placements or formal work experience)
- Excellent knowledge of front-end technologies HTML, CSS, and Javascript
- Advanced knowledge of Drupal is an asset
- Working knowledge of CiviCRM an asset
