Angela's Biography
Angela Chuang is a Regional Spectrum Engineer with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. She joined the Department in 2010 as a Spectrum Management Officer with the Northern BC and Yukon Office, where she was involved in general radiocommunication licensing and enforcement. More recently, as part of the Western Region Spectrum Operations group, her responsibilities include support and representation of her region on technical or policy issues relating to specialized portfolios such as microwave licensing, notably through a major change in the branch’s operational platform. Angela holds a B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with Distinction and a Minor in Commerce from the University of British Columbia.

Get to see how Canadian spectrum regulatory frameworks meet real life. Specifically, how planning of radiofrequency spectrum translates into actual usage, as well as how this planning is in turn influenced by those usages and the challenges encountered.
Becoming a mentor to others. In many ways I still feel as if my career has only started yesterday, but through mentoring I have discovered just how much I have gained from various mentors along the way and how it is never too early to pass on that experience.
Having various role models. It is very encouraging to see increasing number of women in STEM, particularly those whose career paths I could easily see myself following.
Others can discourage or encourage, but ultimately it is still only your life to live.
