Melinda Bissinger

“My #AeroPassion is making Blue Skies Greener by using Sustainable materials.”
Melinda's Biography

I joined P&WC Materials Engineering in 1995. Holding a bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from McGill University and a master’s degree in Materials Engineering from McMaster University, I have been leading the Materials of Concern Reduction program at P&WC since 2005. This program involves evaluating and implementing alternative technologies in order to eliminate environmentally-unfriendly materials and processes. Since the beginning of my implication in this program, P&WC is able to identify, track and significantly reduce the use of several materials of concern in all P&WC engine families. I became Manager of the Department two years ago. The Materials Engineering department is global, spanning Montreal, Toronto and Poland.

I am Manager of Materials Engineering.

As a Manager I am most happy when I enable everyone to succeed by giving them the necessary tools and support.

Sustainable Technology and Eliminating Hazardous Materials in our Engines.

Morale is directly affected by the tone I set in the Department.

Through outreach and professional development activities, research, partnerships, thought leadership and online initiatives, we work with industry and academia to educate on the value of diversity for innovation, to inspire women to thrive and to celebrate the contributions of women in science and engineering.
