Florentina Viscotchi

“My #AeroPassion is proactive execution towards influencing the unexpected.”
Florentina's Biography

Born in Romania, married, mother of 2 girls. Studied aerospace engineering at Polytechnic Bucharest ; Worked at TAROM Romanian Airline, Rolls-Royce and Bombardier for a total of 21 yrs to date. Driver and passionate for winning and achieving the most in everything I do.

As Engineering Director I’m accountable to bring to Certification and Entry into Service the Avionics and Electrical systems. This involves coaching and communication with people, interfacing with other systems, making aircraft level integration decisions, manage suppliers, manage risks and develop recovery plans. Getting ready for the un-knows and being aware of key learning points along the way and driving them as early as practical to minimize late discoveries is what keeps my mind racing.

Bombardier is an aircraft manufacturer (both commercial and business).

Interaction with people at all levels and bringing to completion stretch goals is what keeps me motivated and energized.

CSeries Project, by far. This is the biggest commercial aircraft manufactured in Canadian history. It is a clean design, no patch solution, I have been involved with it from day one and I still remember some of the trade studies carried out along the way; What was a paper solution several years ago, I can now touch, feel, smell. Seeing this aircraft getting airborne from a stand just beside runway on 16 Sept 2022 is a moment of pride and accomplishment I will never forget.

I am acting responsibly in any decision taken to secure safety and customer satisfaction. I watch for talent and potential in every person I interact with and help flourish it in any way I can. At the same time it is also a great opportunity for me to learn from others.

Women to triple presence in the aerospace industry and bring that extra diversity in key areas of the business; I will continue encourage, coach and share experience with my colleagues.

Everything is possible and it starts by knowing what you want, be aware of what does it take to get there and drive it all the way without hesitation. And yes, it requires personal investment!

Through outreach and professional development activities, research, partnerships, thought leadership and online initiatives, we work with industry and academia to educate on the value of diversity for innovation, to inspire women to thrive and to celebrate the contributions of women in science and engineering.
